Moving on to the Next Phase
On the occasion of the 30th year anniversary of its organizer, Puentspina Orchids & Tropical Plants, Inc. (POTPI), the Waling Cup once again calls on the country`s best floral designers to compete in the fourth flower arrangement competition set on August 4, 2007 from 1pm to 5pm. Unlike the last competitions, the Fourth Waling Cup will take place at a venue more accessible to the public, the SM City Davao Entertainment Plaza.
With this theme: The Colors of Davao, the 4th Waling Cup challenges the creativity of established and promising floral designers to incorporate in their creations the textures of Southern Philippines. As an added feature and preparation for the coming Halloween festivities in October, the competition will pick on the imagination of participating arrangers to whisk ingenious and enchanting designs utilizing giant pumpkins raised by the farms of Puentespina Orchids & Tropical Plants, Inc.
Participants will compete in three categories, namely: bridal bouquet and body piece, thanksgiving basket, and the surprise package.
The Waling Cup competition also includes other events such as a floral arrangement demo by award winning Australian floral designer, Mark Pampling on August 3 from 10am to 6pm, a week-long exhibition of the winning entries at the SM City Davao Mall, and a floral arrangement competition among Hotel and Restaurant Management students of the Davao Universities and Colleges.
